Funding for Short Courses

There may be sources of funding available to contribute to the cost of undertaking training and development opportunities.  Details of some of these funding bodies can be found below:

ILA (Individual Learning Account)

If you are resident in Scotland, you may be eligible for £200 towards the cost of your training, if you are over 16 and earning under £22,000. For more information on how to apply for an ILA Scotland account, please contact ILA Scotland on 0808 100 1090 or visit www.ilascotland.org.uk

To use an ILA Account with Barony College, you must have your ILA Account in place before you book onto a course with us.  This can take up to 4 weeks to activiate your account.  It is reccommended that you apply for this funding at your earliest convenience to ensure you can attend the course of your choice on your desired date.

You can download information on how to apply for an ILA account here

You may also contact the Short Course Coordinator at the College on 01387 242918 or via email at shortcourses@barony.ac.uk

Flexible Training Opportunities

Flexible Training Opportunities gives Scottish businesses with up to 150 employees the opportunity to apply for up to £5,000 towards employee training costs.  Enhancing employees' skills will bring real benefits to your business including improved productivity and a stronger more confident workforce

Funding is available for up to 10 employees per business and the money is not a loan so there's no need to pay it back. They will refund up to 50% of each episode of employee training up to a maximum of £500 for each employee.

For example, if an episode of training costs £1200 excluding VAT, they will refund £500. If it costs £300 excluding VAT, they will refund £150.

You can download the application form here and further information can also be found in this leaflet
