NPTC are currently reviewing the need for assessment in this area.  At this moment we are unable to deliver training/assessment leading to NPTC certification in CS33.  Once a decision has been reached from NPTC we will be in a better position to provide further details on what will be involved in the CS33 unit.

This two day course will take place on site and covers felling large sized trees (effective felling diameter over 30" (760mm).  It will be delivered by one of the Barony's qualified forestry instructors and leads to assessment in NPTC CS33. Assessment will take place on a separate day, usually about two weeks after the course takes place, depending on assessor availability and candidate ability. The course content includes:

• Identifying risks and hazards on site
• Organising worksites
• Emergency procedures
• Selection of appropriate equipment
• Felling of large trees
• Optional felling techniques
• Safe use of winches (powered or manual)
• Breakdown of crowns i.e. dismantle or sned
• PUWER requirements

Entry Requirements:

Candidates need to hold NPTC units CS30, CS31 and CS32.
