Chainsaw Felling - Fell and Process Trees over 380 mm (CS32)

Course Details:

This three day course will take place on site and will cover chainsaw felling of trees over 380mm in diameter.  It will be delivered by one of the Barony's qualified forestry instructors and leads to assessment in NPTC CS32.

Please note that this course now also incorporates the training and assessment formerly covered by NPTC unit CS33 (large trees), which has now been discontinued.

Course Content:

• Felling of trees over 380mm in diameter using a maximum of 15 inch guide bar.
• Use of bore cut within large trees
• Snedding and/or breakdown of hardwood crowns.
• Cross-cutting over guide bar and stack produced.
• Take down of hung-up trees using a winch (either hand or powered)

Certification:

NPTC assessment takes place on a separate day, usually a couple of weeks after training, depending on assessor availability and candidate ability.  Successful candidates will be awarded a Certificate of Competence in NPTC unit CS32.

Course Fee:  £550.00 per person

Please note this includes 3 days training, assessment and registration with NPTC.  There is no VAT on our training.

Entry Requirements:

To complete this training candidates are required to hold their NPTC units CS30 and CS31 for Chainsaw Maintenance, Crosscutting and Felling Small Trees.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):

PPE and Chainsaws are available for hire for a small charge for the duration of your training.  For further details on the appropriate PPE for the chainsaw felling training for trees over 380mm (medium trees/CS32) please contact the Short Course Coordinator (details above).
