Chainsaw Felling (CS30 and CS31)

Course Details:

This five day Chainsaw Felling training course will take place  at the Barony College campus in Dumfries & Galloway and on a local forestry site and will cover chainsaw maintenance, cross-cutting, stacking and felling techniques. It will be delivered by one of the Barony's qualified forestry instructors and leads to assessment in NPTC CS30/31.

Course Content:

  • Workshop safety awareness
  • Guide bar, saw chain and power unit maintenance
  • Re-assembly
  • Health and safety features
  • Lubrication and fuelling
  • Personal protective equipment
  • Starting and pre-cutting checks
  • Site safety awareness
  • Cross-cutting and stacking timber
  • Preparation (basic felling)
  • Felling
  • Sned conifers and/or de-limb broad-leaved trees
  • De-limbing
  • Takedown of hung up trees using hand tools

Certification:

NPTC Assessments take place on a separate day, usually a couple of weeks after training, depending on assessor availability and candidate ability.  Successful candidates will be awarded with NPTC Certificates of competence in units CS30 and CS31.

Course Fee:  £850.00 (2012) per person

Please note this includes 5 days training, assessment and registration with NPTC.  There is no VAT on our training.

Course Duration:  5 days (plus 1 day for assessment)

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):
