ATV (All Terrain Vehicles) Novice Operator Course

Qualification: Lantra Certificate of Basic Training (NPTC assessment also available)

Course Details:

This 2 day course is designed for those who are required to ride an ATV as part of their regular duties. Suitable for users in a range of industries and working environments such as agriculture, forestry, golf courses, leisure complexes, parks and gardens, outdoor shows and events. 

Course Content:

The course will involve a small amount of theory, but the content is mainly practical driving work.

  • Use of manufacturer's handbook
  • Protective clothing
  • Transmissions and Drives
  • Controls and Instruments
  • Daily Checks/ re-Fuelling
  • Start/stop procedure
  • Steering
  • Emergency Stop
  • Risk Assessment/ Route Planning
  • Failed Hill Climb techniques
  • Ascent/ Descent/Traversing
  • Complex riding situations
  • Limits of towing trailers/implements
  • Loading capacities
  • Causes of accidents/how to prevent them
  • Daily Checks on all equipment
  • Loading of racks/ hitching up trailers
  • Assessment of riding/hitching/loading

Certification:

A Lantra Awards certificate of Basic Training will be issued upon successful completion of the course.

NPTC assessment is available if required. Please contact the College for more details on how to arrange an NPTC assessment.  Cost for NPTC assessment is £225.00 per person.

Course Fee:  £260.00 per person

Please note this includes 2 days training and assessment and registration with Lantra Awards.  There is no VAT on our training. 

Bike Hire:  If you would prefer to hire a bike for the duration of the course,  we can arrange this for you.  Bike hire is charged at £50 per day.

Start & Finish Times:  9am to 4.30pm approx

Entry Requirements:

There are no formal entry requirements, although an ability to reverse with trailers is preferable.
