Liaison Services
The schools liaison service is for:
- Young people still at school needing information or advice on land based and animal care careers
- The professionals and other adults that guide young people as they make their career choices
We recognise that parents, friends, relatives and other professionals (including guidance teachers and the careers service) all play an important part in assisting young people in making the right choices.
We offer activities to all school ages and are keen to support Secondary School pupils make appropriate curriculum choices.
Who runs the schools liaison service at Barony College?
Gillian Conley is our Schools Co-ordinator. Gillian keeps us linked up with the schools guidance teachers and the careers service in Dumfries and Galloway and other regions in Scotland.
"My job at the Barony is to co-ordinate schools liaison events, including taster days, parents evenings, talks to Personal Social Education (PSE) classes."
I maintain contact with heads of guidance in each school and provide news on coming events, college developments and progress reports on past pupils who are at Barony.
I can arrange for a tutor to call you within a week when you need specialist advice from a subject expert."
