National Progression Award in Fish Husbandry

Course Details:

This is an entry level work-based training programme and qualification, and although no previous experience is required, you need to be in employment on a fish farm, or be able to enter a managed fish farm work experience. Although the programme is flexible, a candidate would reasonably be expected to achieve this award in approximately four months.  Successful completion can lead to progression to the National Progression Award in Fish Feeding, Nutrition and Health.

 The main areas covered by the course are: 

  • Fish Husbandry 
  • Fish Handling
  • Water

Entry Requirements:

Three Standard Grade passes, ideally including a science subject. Your personal motivation and a reference from your employer are taken into account.
