Course Details:
This course can be taken full-time over one year, or by a series of block attendance over two years. It is suitable for those who wish to gain employment as either agricultural or forestry engineers and covers a wide range of topics, including:
- Engine Repair, Service and Maintenance
- Information Technology
- Electrical Systems
- Transmission Repair, Service and Maintenance
- Braking System Repair, Service and Maintenance
- Hydraulic Systems
- Electronic Systems
- Agricultural Machines
- Forest Harvesting Machines and Harvester Heads
- Welding and Fabrication
- Machine Shop Work
The course is very practical in nature and will include carrying out servicing and maintenance tasks on a range of equipment which has developed faults when in use (real repairs) – this approach adds realism to the course and prepares the individual to gain employment with a dealer or to progress to a HN programme.
Forestry Machine Operation: For those who wish to develop a career as a machine operator there will be an option to undertake an additional 4 week intensive programme on forwarder operation on completion of Forestry Engineering before undertaking a 3 week harvester operation course with our European partner Vanamo College in Sweden.
Entry Requirements:
- Three Standard Grades (Grade 3 or above) in Maths, English and a Science subject OR
- Successful completion of Introduction to Service Engineering course.
