Course Details:
This 24 week course is made up of both practical and theory classes and will give you experience in working with a wide range of animals. The course is suitable for anyone wanting to increase their knowledge and develop their practical skills with animals. The main themes of the course are:
- Animal Health and Nutrition
- Health and Safety
- Grooming
- Animal Handling
- Anatomy and Physiology
- Animal Accommodation
- Basic Care of Mammals
The course will also include ICT and customer relations. Work with farmed animals will take place on the College's commercial farms. Our on-campus wildlife centre allows you the chance to care for injured and orphaned wild animals and to learn how to re-introduce them to the wild.
Entry Requirements:
Minimum of 3 Standard Grades (or equivalent qualifications) at level 3 or above. Biology and English would be an advantage. In addition applicants must have a genuine interest in animals.
If you lack the required academic qualifications but have relevant practical experience, this would be taken into account during the application process.
