Barony College Awards 2010
Hardworking Barony College students were presented with certificates and trophies marking their achievements over the past academic year at the annual Barony College Presentation of Certificates and Awards event on Tuesday 22nd June.
Twenty-one prizes were awarded to students who made particular achievements, progress or contribution to their course with prize winners nominated by tutors from each section of Barony College.
The awards ceremony was followed by a champagne and strawberries reception in the college campus where students and their families had an opportunity to mingle with guest speaker Doddie Weir who gave an inspirational address to the students. The popular Rugby Union veteran who played over 60 times for Scotland and played for the British Lions is also a former HND student from the Scottish Agricultural College and now Commercial Director for Hutchinson Environmental Solutions.
Some of the students awarded certificates will return to Barony College to continue with their studies, but most will go on to employment, self employment or further specialist training. Principal Russell Marchant said the students could look forward to a bright future.
“Each and every one of our award winners have exciting futures ahead of them, ready to step into the world of work equipped with skills and experience sought by employers in rural, land based industries. I know that many of our award winners have already secured employment or training and I congratulate them on making the most of their college experience. I wish everyone well and hope each of our students will continue to be inspired and enthused by their chosen field, enjoying careers that are personally and professionally rewarding and remembering their time at Barony College fondly.”
