CLAAS Act at Barony College
Barony College, along with partners CLAAS UK were awarded ‘Partnership of the Year’ at the Skills Development Scotland Modern Apprentice Awards in Glasgow on the 7th December.
They fought off two other training joint ventures to scoop the prize in a hotly contested category.
The prestigious event, held at Glasgow Science Centre, was hosted by television star Stephen Jardine and showcased training providers, apprentices, colleges and employers who had demonstrated initiative and dedication in the training of both young and older apprentices.
CLAAS UK initially started working with Barony College in 2003 as a regional venue to support their dealership training programme. In the last three years, the partnership has progressed substantially and the two partners have jointly developed highly innovative training, e-learning and assessment materials.
Drew Easton, Section Head of Engineering at the College said:
“We were delighted to win the Partnership category. This is a great story of how positive, trusting, flexible joint working can bring real benefits for everyone involved. This is a partnership that is a true meeting of minds, cultures and aspirations and we expect it to go from strength to strength in the years to come. The levels of support and commitment provided by CLAAS through provision of equipment and training are unparalleled within the industry”.
John Palmer, Training Manager at CLAAS said “Barony College has a proven commitment to Landbased Engineering and commands nationwide respect from every corner of the sector. CLAAS UK is very pleased to welcome all the entrants onto the program and to support Barony in delivering it, knowing as we do, that this will provide the foundation for our collective success in the future”.
